You can take Martha out of the Muffins, but not the Muffins out of Martha. After thirty years and eight albums (three of which were co-produced with Daniel Lanois), Martha Johnson recorded her first ever solo album, Solo One, featuring songs written in her distinctive style with artists such as Ron Sexsmith, Will Whitwham (the Wilderness of Manitoba), Alister Johnson (Grand Analog), Hill Kourkoutis (Hill and The Sky Heroes) and, of course, Mark Gane (Martha and the Muffins).
Martha’s career has had many highlights including opening for Roxy Music at Wembley Arena in London, winning a JUNO for Single of the Year for the international hit song “Echo Beach”, and selling 250,000 copies in Germany, Austria and Switzerland of a song called “Troy” that she co-wrote with the German hip hop group Die Fantastischen Vier. You can see why Martha has learned that almost anything can happen when you share your music with the world.
