Sam Casey’s second EP, More Songs About Weed And Toxic Relationships, is now available worldwide. Casey says that, “More Songs About Weed And Toxic Relationships is not a misleading title. I sing a lot about relationships and weed while also expressing my opinion on certain societal flaws and some of my more positive experiences from university. This EP really allowed me to introduce myself to the audience. I stopped trying to sound so pretty all the time because I don’t feel or sound pretty all the time. I definitely talked shit about some guys in addition to telling people about myself which I found extremely therapeutic. All in all, the EP is inspired by life from 2020-2022: all the breakups, the makeups, the drugs, the dancing, the crying, the anxiety and the love. ALL OF IT!”

Available worldwide today, Stupid Bitch is the third single and video from Sam Casey’s forthcoming EP, More Songs About Weed And Toxic Relationships. Casey says that “Stupid Bitch was originally written about a friend of mine who was continuing to go back to the same lying and possessive guy even though she KNEW he was toxic for her. In university, we would stay up late and have these deep and honest conversations about our boyfriends at the time. She would cry, scream and laugh about how terrible he was to her and how she knew she could do better. The seed of Stupid Bitch came from the realization that some people stay in toxic relationships because they are not ready to leave. It is not because they are unaware of their situation or too naive to see the effects that these partners have on there well-being. I find that there is this common misconception surrounding breakups: that there is a winner and a loser, and, even further, that the person being treated poorly is the loser. Stupid Bitch provides an alternative point of view of the ‘loser’. The chorus tells the story of a person who is aware of their partner’s narcissistic tendencies and uses that partner’s ego-centric lifestyle and lack of attention to grow and become independent in their own life before leaving him for good.”

On January 27th, Sam Casey releases the second single and video from her forthcoming EP, More Songs About Weed And Toxic Relationships. Sam says that “I’m Fucking Sam is the real me introducing myself to the world. I can do the soft ballad, but it’s not WHO I AM. This is. I’m Fucking Sam talks about the pressures of any young adult who has recently left their safety net. It’s about dating the wrong guy, choosing the wrong friends, and learning about yourself through these negative experiences. I’m Fucking Sam illustrates the experience of being wanted/adored for what you can do for someone rather than who you really are. It also discusses the vices that we may fall back on when discovering these ugly realities for the first time. I’m Fucking Sam is a self-love anthem for those who have decided to say ‘screw it’ and let their freak flag fly. Lord knows I did and it tastes like fucking freedom.” The video is again produced by Moon Reel Media and directed by Agata Waclawska.

On November 4th, our boutique record label imprint, The Confidence Emperors, releases Good Fight, the new single and video from Sam Casey. It’s the first single from her new EP, More Songs About Weed And Toxic Relationships. The song was written by Sam, Mike Schlosser and Laurel Clouston, and produced by Mike. The video for the single was produced by Moon Reel Media, directed by Agata Waclawska and filmed by Alex Exists.

Sam says that “Good Fight was born out of a conversation between one of my co-writers on this song, Laurel Clouston, and myself. We were simply shooting the shit in our producer’s home studio about the abundance of female musicians and the polarizing lack of females we had personally seen in positions of power/management positions, as well as the pressure to “look” like an artist rather than just be an artist. We were and are very cognizant of the vast improvements for women in the entertainment industry over the past few decades, and we spoke about certain women who have become decision-makers for themselves such as Rihanna, Maggie Rogers, and Beyoncé.”
